[edit] Genesis
The idea of creating a new board is brought up by IxionsRevenge, an avid player on StarCraft. UnHoly-Assassin decided to turn the idea into substance, and opened up Shakuras. Several members who were relatively mature and civil were invited during the fragile moments of the Shakuras opening. As word of mouth spread, there came a small exodus of members, and thus Shakuras bloomed.

UnHoly-Assassin was familiar with numerous boards, some successful and some not. The experiences were didactic in forming the basic foundations of Shakuras. Such included deterring the abuse of priviledges by those in charge, usually snubs, and the prejudice of members against certain moderation actions. Thus the clandestine joint moderator account TheHammer was created, shared by IxionsRevenge, UnHoly-Assassin, and Abomb(who was appointed shortly after the small exodus). The account served as a enigmatic figure whose efficacy was appearent and acknowledged. The goal of the account was to be omnipotent but without hubris, dogmatic yet with a degree of levity, and most importantly of all to keep order. For a while TheHammer was used mostly for expurgating defamatory and invidious material while weeding out desultory content. Later on it was decided by the moderators that TheHammer was too dilatory in dealing with immediate attention, and was thus retired after announcing who the moderators, then UnHoly-Assassin, Abomb, IxionsRevenge, and Snot, were.
[edit] Adversity
There were several occasions when Shakuras experienced some hardships. For starters, the server that Shakuras is hosted on frequently had downtime, revealing the instability of the server at the time. Some of the modifications of Shakuras uses heavy javascript that put stress on the computer of a member, and thus the most pernicious and superfluous codes were removed. The amiablility of TheHammer at the time caused several members to become belligerent of which most members came to escape from, and a pletora of digression emerged. Snot was then appointed to join TheHammer, and then shortly substituted by Kvil during Snot's absence.

As of August 22, 2006, Shakuras boasts of 108 members (from starcraft.org, battle.net, and a few not related to StarCraft at all). 12759 posts have been made (See graph on right for more details), with about 4 new topics made each day. The most popular forum is Discussions, with currently 5309 posts, followed closely by StarCraft general with 4395 posts. TheDutchJelle is the top poster with >8000 posts followed by Vezer with 3862 posts.

The first tournament ( 17 October 2005- 11 January 2006 ) was lead by WorldCommunist. Finding information about it is hard because it was a bit messy. The brackets at start were:

The next tournament ( 14 April 2006 - June 30 2006 ), also lead by Worldcommunist, was more organised. DrawingBlanks helped him with the organization.

[edit] Tournament II rules
Rules:
- All matches must be played upon the posted map, Winding_River. No others. [Made by BrotherGreen]
- A replay must be posted of the match in order to make it valid.
- You have one week to play your match from the time the matches are posted.
- You may not start a new round until, I, Kvil0, or DrawingBlanks tells you so.
- Any dispute of a rule, or suspected hacking, shall be taken to kvil or drawingblanks. They will deem the punishment if necessary.
- It would be preferred if all replays are saved with PenguinPlug.
[edit] Tournament III
The third tournament on Shakuras was lead co-operatively by WorldCommunist and Salvatore.
The tournament was the most successful to date, with the winner being nw.lost. The winner's prize was deemed the Salvammunist Trophy, and Lost is now the proud owner of that. The rules were similar to the second, execept that all matches were played on the PGT Season 9 map set.

- Clan HK (acronym for HellFire Knights) led by WorldCommunist made Shakuras its home base.
- There were several StarCraft tournaments hosted on Shakuras for games on Battle.Net, the first
two run by WorldCommunist with assistance from various members, the third being co-led by WorldCommunist and Salvatore.
- Some additional coding on Shakuras are mostly StarCraft-themed, including the cursors, banner, and of course the name Shakuras itself.
- The Board is named after Shakuras, homeworld of the Dark Templar in StarCraft.
- Shakuras is subtitled the Home of Renegades in light that most of its members are iconoclast.
- Shakuras uses the skin BlueIllusion, however skins are changable.
