User:Markpyro
From ORG Wiki
Markpyro is an active member of Warboards, known also as "Cait", "MP", and "Mark".
[edit] History
Markpyro joined Warboards in 2004, drawn by an interest in Warcraft 3. Because of her username, she was believed to be male- rather than correcting the mistake, she simply allowed members to believe she was a boy. She claimed to be a 16-year-old named Mark, and kept this persona until several years later. Throughout her first few years at Warboards, she participated in the Warcraft mapping community, taking ventures to start a team in the same vein as Starchitects. The team failed to create maps of any real value, and was soon scrapped. During this time, she was also an active member throughout the rest of the forums and IRC. She took great interest in the ventures of forum members- inspiring her to learn several scripting languages, how to use software such as Photoshop and Flash, a general knowledge of how to build and operate a computer, and skills in web development and design.
After a year or so, she let out that she was younger than she'd let on- twelve years of age rather than sixteen. However, she maintained her status as a boy, responding to "Mark", and continuing activity throughout the forums. She even participated in game nights where she voice-chatted with Warboards members- protected by a boyish voice that went unquestioned.
Markpyro remained active for a long period of time, participating for a time in the roleplaying Forum and posting art in Creative Concepts. She obtained hosting and started her own website, "pyrom.net", which hosted many of the pictures she posted. She was the creator of the "blame dunchy" button, which was also hosted there. This continued, but into 2007 her activity slowly decreased as school drew more of her free time. During the summer of 2007, Markpyro went on haitus when she left the country on foreign exchange and had little access to internet. She came back a few months later, but the abstinence caused her to become idle.
A year passed until she returned, at first lurking and later to consistent posting. In the summer of 2008, she felt it was time she reveal herself as female. One of her first posts upon returning was an image of herself in the "Post Yourself" thread. This drew significant interest from forum members, many giving surprised responses to the photo. With time, she also revealed that her name was "Cait", and began to correct members who addressed her otherwise.
[edit] Present
Since then, she has become increasingly more active in both the forums and on the IRC channel. Her current interests include Photoshop, web development (PHP/MYSQL being scripts she learned previously), web design, and general technology.
