CWAL II

From ORG Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Set up by K'tan, who was sick of WarCraft getting all the attention from Blizzard, this is currently a small group of .org members who really want to see SC 2 so much they are even making comics and pictures and stuff.

Recently, there have been some large events at the forums. First was the arrival of some CWAL I members, Kalledon being the only one still active (in passing) However, both communities are happy around each other, despite a lack of any real mixing.

There has also been a marked shift from anti-WC to pro-Blizzard, which has been a valuble step. CWAL II also has a fledgling Gamespot Union, a Xanga and will soon have a MySpace. With a nice formal letter planned for Mr. Blizz, CWAL II has got in the kegs of alCWAL and is ready to hit the road.

[edit] Nasty Ape's article

For those of you not familiar, Operation CWAL is a group of People that greatly influenced the release of the Greatest RTS game of all time, StarCraft.

We Can't Wait Any Longer, can you?

Blizzard Entertainment is one of the best game developers in the world. They are especially known for their high quality Real Time Strategy games, RTSes. They started out with a game called WarCraft, back in the stone age of gaming, followed by WarCraft II. After that Blizzard got the best idea they ever had, and after that it seemed they have only gotten dumber.

This idea was StarCraft, an unprecedented RTS that, even though the graphics are not as advanced as nowadays, still is the best in its field, many believe. Mainly because it has 3 completely different races with hardly any resemblance at all, and they are completely balanced. No unit or tactic is unbeatable, and the possibilities are endless. StarCraft also shines in it simplicity. The controls and game play are down to earth and straight forward. This enables you to focus more on the task at hand, be it amassing an army, securing an expansion, or defending your homeland. Because it's simple doesn't mean it's dull however, the few units in the game all play a part and will never be rendered useless because of more technologically advanced ones, unlike in other games. Every building, every upgrade and every unit all play a vital part in your goal to conquest.

SC has been a major success all over the world. It was released in 1998, but it would have taken longer if it was not for an operation started by dedicated fans all over the world. Operation CWAL; Can't Wait Any Longer. Blizzard delayed the release of SC over and over, but CWAL played a major part in getting it out on time. They hyped the game, and begged and moaned, and it worked.

Now, 8 years later, times are not good for the SC gamer. It seems that Blizzard has been brainwashed by their success with WarCraft. In the meantime they have released a WC III, an expansion for it, and an RPG World of WarCraft. Not just any RPG, a MMORPG, the worst of them all. Massively Multiplayer Online. Not only are these games dull and boring, but very expensive and addictive, drawing many gamers away from better games like SC. Loyal fans have begged many times for Blizzard to make a sequel to StarCraft, as they did with WarCraft, but Blizzard cruelly ignored their cries of anguish when yet another WarCraft game got released.

Blizzard softened, and promised the fan base they would revisit the StarCraft universe. Many fans got their hopes up, but were horribly disappointed when Blizz told the public that they were going to release a half baked console stealth shooter. Adding insult to injury, they have almost definitely called off the development of this game as well!

Now the fans want revenge, and have reawaken a long dormant power that Blizzard should never forgotten, the power that is CWAL! Gamers from a forum dedicated to Blizzard have risen to the task. They will not rest until Blizzard has released StarCraft 2, and wonder how anyone that has played the original can. Blizzard has released 5 WarCraft games until now, and a measly 2 StarCraft games, StarCraft and its Brood War expansion. CWAL II is tired of WarCraft; we appreciate them as games on their own, but simply do not understand why Blizzard refrains from making more StarCraft games, which are superior. On our own forum, we are recruiting people to join the cause and stop the madness. We will try to get the message over to Blizzard in any way that we can. Spreading articles across the net, writing comics, spreading rumors across Battle.net and so forth.
